In English it is called Tarki and in Hindi the people call it Peru bird.
Hens are slaughtered at about 14–16 weeks and ready meat at about 18–20 weeks of age, when they can weigh more than 20 kg, while a mature male wild tarki weighs about 10.8 kg.
Under proper feeding and artificial light management, female tarki lay about 60-100 eggs in a year. About 70 percent of the eggs are laid in the afternoon.
Their feathers are dark in color with white stripes. Their rump and tail feathers are largely rusty or white in color. The bare skin of the head and neck ranges from red to blue and brown.
The easiest way to determine the gender of a tarki is to examine the feathers on the tarki's chest and flanks. In the male, the tips of these feathers are black. In females the tips of the wings are brown.
